Thanks to My Mum

Happy Mother’s Day, Mum. Without your books in the house I would never have¬†learned to love reading. I remember being in school, struggling to make sense of the words on the page. It was frustrating – my friend was already a level ahead of me, and I could tell at times you got frustrated with me too. But you stuck with me. Both you and Dad encouraged me to keep reading. When I was old enough, you gave me your Enid Blyton books – The Famous Five, The Faraway Tree and The Naughtiest Girl in the School. It was these stories that sparked my imagination and ignited my love for both reading and writing. It was you, who made sure I had a library card. You remembered which days the Mobile Library would come to our village, just so I could have new reading material through the long summer holidays.…
